OUR ORIGIN STORY

Hot Drops is the result of founder, Andrew Whiting’s, quest to perfect the healthy fermentation of his home-grown peppers. Andrew, everyone on the planet in 2020, found himself with an abundance of time and fortunately, some land he could farm.

“Hot Drops began as a passion project — It began as me making gifts for friends and family, this was during the pandemic, and like everyone else, I was home quite a bit. I became interested in preserving & fermenting, and peppers became the focus of my fascination. Around the same time my sister, Leigh, and I agreed to make gifts for one another for Christmas. Hot Drops grew out of spare time, spare peppers, and a desire to create a personal gift for people close to me.” 


Born and raised in Sonoma County, Andrew's passion for cooking and experimentation ignited at an early age. Pursuing his education at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Andrew delved into the world of Agricultural Business and Sustainability, further fueling his love for the culinary arts.

With a wealth of knowledge and over 15 years of experience in the culinary consumer goods industry, Andrew has honed his skills to create delightful gastronomic experiences. His journey has been guided by a deep appreciation for quality ingredients and sustainable practices, infusing his creations with a touch of culinary magic.

Andrew's culinary expertise and commitment to sustainability have driven him to craft unique and exceptional products that resonate with food enthusiasts around the globe. From Sonoma County roots to a flourishing career in the culinary world, Andrew's passion for cooking continues to shine, leaving a flavorful mark on the industry he cherishes.

Hot Drops is made in small batches with all locally sourced ingredients from Sonoma County. Organic and vegan, the sauce has no calories and is made through a process known as lacto-fermentation.

The process and result
